Some 180km south - west of Arusha is Mt. Hanang. At 3417 metres (11,212 feet) it is the fourth highest mountain in Tanzania. It is a grand volcanic cone, rising steeply above the surrounding plains, with an excellent trek to the summit but very few visitors know of its existence.
